1] Run Antivirus Scan for Malware
Make sure to scan your PC for known viruses and malware using one of the popular antivirus software. In case they are causing a memory issue, it can be resolved by removing them from the System. You can also try booting your PC in Safe Mode and then run the software for the scan.
2] Update Device Drivers
Check with Windows Update, and see if there is an update pending that relates to your Device Drivers. If necessary, you can always install them manually from the OEMs website.
3] Test your RAM
Since this is a memory issue, you can run the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool to determine if the RAM module has gone corrupt. If your RAM is corrupt, you may have to buy a new one or change your motherboard in the worst case. You may also want to try some Advanced Memory Diagnostic on Windows with Memtest86+. 4] Clean Up Temporary Files and System Files
Windows 11/10 comes with Storage Sense feature, which can either automatically clean all the temporary files from your computer or you can do it manually. When run manually, makes sure to check folders like download where you keep downloading files. This will make sure you are not deleting important files.
5] Run DISM Tool
When you run DISM (Deployment Imaging and Servicing Managemen) tool, it will repair Windows System Image and Windows Component Store in Windows. All of the system inconsistencies and corruption should be fixed. You can either use Powershell or command prompt to execute this command.
6] Run System File Checker
This will repair corrupted or damaged Windows files. You will need to run this command from elevated CMD i.e. command prompt launched with admin privileges.
7] Repair Hard Disk errors
In the case of errors on the hard drive, the update will fail as the system will think that it’s not healthy. You should run chkdsk in the command prompt to resolve those issues. If this cannot solve your problem, you may have to think about replacing your hard drive. When you do so, make sure to backup all your data on the Windows PC. You can also use it as a secondary hard drive.
8] Use System Restore
It is always best to restore your PC to the last known good state if you find things getting complicated.
