What Is Backlight Bleed?
It is a visual problem limited to LCDs. Most modern displays these days come equipped with LEDs on their rear side. They use it as a light source. So, when the panel is connected to a power source and is lit up the picture is displayed on the screen. However, when the light that was supposed to shine through the black screen escapes along its edges and the assembly of LCD and sensors on the backside fails to block the light completely, it results in an uneven lighting pattern on the screen commonly referred to as backlight bleeding.
