Reverse Image Search is basically a search technique using which you can upload an image file as a search query and then it finds out all visually similar images as the input image from the web. So, you can search for visually similar images on Google Images from the images’ context menu and you don’t even need to open a web browser to do that. In this article, I am going to show you a method and steps to do a reverse image search on Google Images from Windows Explorer. For that, I am going to use this handy third-party application called GoogleImageShell. You need to download this shell extension program and install it on your Windows 11/10 PC. And as you install it on your computer, a search option will be added to the context menu of images. When you click on the added option, you will see similar image results displayed in your default web browser in a few seconds. Simple, isn’t it? Now, let us have a look at the exact steps to right-click on images to directly search on Google Images.
Add Search on Google Images using Context Menu in Windows
Here are the basic steps to right-click on an image to search on Google Images using GoogleImageShell: Let’s discuss these steps in detail! Firstly, download this handy and lightweight application GoogleImageShell from github.com. Then, install it on your PC by double-clicking the downloaded application file. Before installation, you can configure various options including Context menu text, Include filename in search, Resize large image before uploading, Associated image file formats, and Install for all users. And then, click on the Install button to complete the installation and it will add the search option in the context menu of supported images.
Now, go to the Windows File Explorer and then open the folder where you have saved the source image for which you want to perform reverse image search. After that, right-click on the image and you will see an option called Search on Google Images (or whatever text you entered for the search option) added in the context menu. Next, simply select the above option and it will upload the image on Google Images. Within some time, you will see all the visually similar images and other image results in your default web browser. You can see the below screenshot for your reference.
